So now Oregonian columnist S. Renee Mitchell cost Hillary Barnes, a Starbucks manager her job. Mitchell must be proud. I have an idea: Mitchell should give the newly unemployed woman her job. It seems the ex-manager has a lot more decency, kindness, and brains. The most appalling thing about Mitchell’s latest column is what’s not in it: an apology. Here’s what folks are saying on Mitchell’s blog.
The fired manager helped some Charlotte, NC residents combat illiteracy. Does anything stand out in the photo?
Oh, and by the way, Starbucks sucks. I didn’t go there before and I certainly won’t now.

That’s totally effed up.

That’s interesting/good to note. I thought I was the only one blogging about this one.
And yes; only a complete asshole would fail to acknowledge her role in this fiasco.
From the Do As I Say But Not As I Hypocritically Do Files, you GOTTA check out this priceless gem from 2003, when S. Renee Mitchell rips into the Willamette Week for some perceived slight:
http://www.wweek.com/editorial/2938/4155/
She says (and I quote):
“Be ethical: It is a reporter’s responsibility to be fair and check with people mentioned by name in news stories, especially if the reporter is making accusations about that named person.”
It’s signed:
“Yours for quality journalism,
S. Renee Mitchell
Columnist, The Oregonian”
What’s even funnier is she practically plagiarized her letter to the editor from a response column I wrote to the Oregonian.
