Help! I didn’t have time to brew and our filbert connection fell through. We might still be able to get some u-pick filberts, but if not, do you have any ideas of what K and I could bring to this party?
Greetings foodie friends,
Our Harvest Celebration dinner is this coming Sunday Oct 4. (Below is the
text of an email I sent y’all on Aug 5.) I hope this dinner made it onto
your calendars and you are planning to come. The idea with this potluck food gathering is that the principal ingredients
are made, picked, grown, foraged, caught, etc. by you. We’ll gather at 3:00ish and nibble on many small plates, tapas style. Feel
free to cook and prepare food at our place.
Kids are of course welcome. We hope to have about 12 people. If you have a
houseguest or friend, we welcome them too. This will not be “sit and down all eat all at once”, but more of, “a have a
bite, wait a bit, have another dish”, and so on.
Plan on bringing enough food share a bit with everyone, (not stuffing them)
so we can maintain appetite through the afternoon to sample everyone’s
contributions.
We’re not purists. Not all ingredients need to be procured by you, just the
main one(s).If you are scratching your head and wondering what to bring, a few
suggestions.bake some bread, whip some cream to make some butter
plums are around, make some jam
go “gleaning” at a community garden
ask your neighbor with a good veggie garden if you can have some
NW wine or beer is welcome too. (I did not get it together to make wine
this year, maybe next time.)You get the idea.
Please respond to this and let me know if you’re coming and what you’re
bringing, so I have some idea.
From my end, I am planning to go crabbing on Saturday at the coast or
chantrelle mushroom hunting, or maybe both. Thanks, and we hope to see you soon.
